One Year on the Road

Two women, their golden retriever, and an orphaned kitten hit the road in an RV for one year of "pretirement"

Upon on return to Oregon, we met our friends, Kathy and Robin, at a campground on the Columbia River Gorge.

Mount Hood, viewed crossing the bridge over to Oregon.

The kids slept through the border crossing.

Into Columbia River Gorge.

We got there first and set up.

The campground is right on the railroad tracks.

But no trains were running because of the oil tanker derailment a few miles away.

We walked down to the beach.

The Columbia River.

We loved this antique green machine.

Our spot shared with Kathy and Robin.

Robin made breakfast.

Rolling the basil.

Waffle with fried egg, bacon crumbles, and basil.

Add a little berry compote. Yum!!!

We went for a hike after breakfast.

She and I crossed the creek several times to climb higher.

So refreshing!!

Almost underneath it.

Tricky footing all the way up and down.

But it was worth it.

Robin marches in place to push up her Fit Bit.

Gypsy kept her distance from our friends.

We went down to the river again.

It was 97 degrees.

The water felt good.

Lots of people wading in.

Kathy annoints Robin with a stick.

Bailey was happy to cool herself.

She would swim forever.

Bailey hid in the shade.

She didn't want to leave the shade to go back.

Robin tried to win over Gypsy.

But she would have none of it.

Kathy likes our hammock.

Kathy and Robin.

Silly girls.

Another great breakfast.

We eat well with Robin around.

Back on the road again.

We made a quick stop at Multnomah Falls.

It was so hot, people took to the water.

Multnomah Falls are the highest falls in Oregon.

The bridge is a good hike up.
