One Year on the Road

Gypsy sprawled across Bailey&#039;s tail as we drive.

She crawls into the hanging litter bin.

And curls up for a cuddle-nap.

We stayed in this lush Vermont campsite overnight.

It was on Lake Bomoseen, the largest lake in Vermont.

The campground had very woodsy sections.

The campground had sites with shelters for bad weather.

I watched the sunrise through the windshield.

I walked to the lake in the morning.

Heron on the swim dock.

Rower and heron.

Nice house on the shore.

The park included historic homes that we didn&#039;t get a chance to tour.

Pretty countryside.

Green fields and wildflowers.

Gypsy and Bailey snooze through the drive.

Coming in closer.

So many quaint old farms.

More wildflowers.

We stopped at this tiny village near Shrewsbury.

There was an old merry-go-round by the P.O.

A hand-caligraphy sign listed all the businesses in town.

This old church is now owned by the historical society.

We love old cemetaries.

Some headstones weren&#039;t even dated.

But they were all from the 1800s.

The wives are only noted by first name.

&quot;Sleep, Darling, Sleep.&quot;

This mausoleum was what caught our eye in the first place.

It was built by John Bowman after his wife and children died.

It was said he grieved deeply for years.

One daughter died as a baby, the other at 23.

His wife died a year after their second daughter died.

They lived in the house across the street.

A buried house in the backyard?

We drove by the Vermont Country Store.

We LOVE their catalog, so we had to pull in.

Too shy to ask someone to take our photo kissing, Kate made me Photoshop this.

On the porch, a rope and stick rocker.

Kate found it exquisitely comfortable.

This store has a ton of candy!

We were incapable of resisting.

The penny candy was a great bargain.

This store is famous for retro everything.

Lots of toys and puzzles.

Sock monkeys, of course!

There are also a lot of food items.

Yes! We DID get Charles Chips delivered to our door in the 60s.

Pickled ferns?? How interesting.

Cleaning products...

Lotions and soaps...

Musical instruments...

And practical foundations and sleepwear.

A watermill by the store.

Back on the road again.

Gypsy discovered the dash fore the first time.

It was a little scary...

...but fascinating.
