One Year on the Road

We camped in the Visitor Center parking lot.

It&#039;s a great Visitor Center, with museum, coffee shop, gift shop...

There&#039;s even a restaurant in a train car.

We were right next to the Savannah College of Art and Design.

A beautiful old building.

Now turned into classrooms.

Our first day, we took a trolley tour.

We saw sights all around town.

The first synagogue in Georgia, was built in 1878.

This mansion&#039;s fence is a replica of the Buckingham Palace fence.

St. John the Baptist Cathedral was built in 1873.

The interior is as elaborate as any European cathedral.

These guys fell right at my feet.

But with some gymnastics thrown in.

They boost the catcher up by the shorts.

I love all the old buildings.

We drove to this out-of-the-way place for lunch.

Kate had cheese grits. I had a BLT.

This is from Charleston, where we stopped for lunch at Boxcar Bettie&#039;s.

We found a much-needed barber shop for me.

We got there just before closing.

I had to wait my turn.

And Bailey had to wait outside.

I got a woman barber, Satcha, from Bosnia.

She did a great job.

This restaurant was filmed in Forest Gump.

And it hasn&#039;t changed a bit.

So many horse-drawn carriages.

Gypsy did just fine in the RV.

We drove out to Wormsloe plantation.

It was one of the original British colonies.

All that&#039;s left of the original residence.

The walls were made of oyster shells.

The shells are everywhere.

The house served as a lookout/fortress.

From the fortress, they could watch for Spanish invaders.

The park includes a replica of a colony home.

We walked over to the place where Bernie was going to speak.

We stood in line for over an hour.

Everybody seemed to be enjoying themselves.

He must have been exhausted...

But he was so patient and good-humored.

People were so excited to see him.

He had talked for 90 minutes, after doing the same in SC at 3:00.

He was awesome!
