One Year on the Road

Lunch in Apalachicola

Old fishing boat.

After Kate’s family reunion, we had to leave Blue Spring early to get to Lake City for an RV repair appointment. We just had a few last fixes that had been held up waiting for parts. We spent most of the day driving around town with Bailey and Gypsy, then spent a night at Walmart before driving to the Panhandle, where we had reservations at a state park. On the way, we stopped at Apalachicola for lunch.

Cute tourist shop.

We’d heard this little fishing village was worth a stop, and it was. The town itself is a mix of run-down and renovated “Cracker houses” and Victorians, and the tiny downtown is quaint and historic. Apalachicola is making a strong effort to bring in some tourist trade. We even had the mayor step out of a tiny City Hall office and ask where we were from, how we were liking our visit.

There’s not a whole lot to the place, but it was definitely worth a walk-around, a lunch stop, and a few fun photos.
