At the Gateway to Cape Code campground, we witnessed a cranberry harvest and an elaborate Halloween party.

The campground was fairly quiet the first time we stayed there.

There were a few Halloween decorations up.

The cranberry bog before harvesting.

When we came back, they had flooded the bog for harvest.

Two men driving "egg beaters" were working the bog.

They churned up the water to release the berries.

The berries floated to the top.

It was a beautiful sight.

And so interesting to watch.

They used long poles to mark where they had been.

Sometimes they stopped to get out and check.

We were tempted to bring down a collander!

The resort was in the midst of a Halloween costume contest.

There was a clown to entertain.

Most of the RVs were all decked out.

Some were so elaborate.

This one won first prize.

At 4:00, the trick-or-treating began.

Mario.

Four cuties.

Ninja turtles are still going strong.

Baby turtle.

Mom and kid share a dragon costume.

Fifties garb? Or just cute girl?

Little pirate.

And her pirate brother.

Serious Pooh.

Three stooges.

The adults got into it, too.

Elton with bad teeth?

So many great decorations.

Scary witch.

This was the scariest.

A zombie guarded the path.

Kids screamed when the spider jumped out.

And then they ran past.

Cute little cheerleader.

She pauses at the entrance to the scary walk.

She looks up...

...at the flying bats.

She considered making a run for it, but she went in.

This girl chose not to enter.

Poor squirrel dog does not look happy.

Zombie cheerleader.

Such innocence! Cover his eyes!

Back in Bessie, Gypsy watched group after group go by.

The next morning, this cranberry truck stopped for me.

He invited me to climb up for a better view.

They tasted good!

That's a lot of berries.

So beautiful.

He gave us a giant bag full!

Out in the bog, the berries were being harvested.

All the berries were floating now.

Huge floating hoses corraled in the berries.

Workers moved and adjusted the hoses.

And raked the berries in.

The berries are vacuumed up through this machine and sprayed into trucks.

Water drains from the truck.

I'll never think of cranberry juice the same.

Gypsy waited patiently for us in Bessie.

While we drove, these pals snugged.

So sweet together.
