One Year on the Road

Lake Whitney was 20 feet higher than normal.

We drove into Waco to see some sights.

It was a fun 50s place.

After lunch, we visited the Earle-Kinnear museum house.

It dated back to the mid 1800s.

The Napier family bought the house in 1869.

The Napiers lived there with three of their children until they died.

The daughter and her husband inherited the house and stayed on.

Their two unmarried daughters, Mary and Kate, were the last residents of the house.

Mary lived in the house till she died in her 90s.

The sisters shared this room when they were children.

But had separate rooms as adults.

Our guide was great. She told many stories of country living back in the old days.

This playhouse was donated to the museum.

We took Bailey to a park near our campground for a swim in the lake.

But the roads were all flooded and the water floating with muck.

We only saw armadillos dead by the side of the road.

In Hillsboro, traffic was stopped for a wide load.

This silo was HUGE.

They had to clear the entire intersection for it to make the turn.

It was pulled by one semi and pushed by two others.
