Two women, their golden retriever, and an orphaned kitten hit the road in an RV for one year of "pretirement"

While staying at San Benito RV Park, we visited San Juan Bautista and Pinnacles National Park.

A steady rain our frist morning.

Kate took some photos of them.

Banana nut pancakes and apple mango sausage!

Kate gives me bangs a trim.

There was a nest of baby starlings at our site.

The sun peeked out in the afternoon,

This gopher popped up under our picnic table.

The next day was gorgeous!

Pictoral sites along the way.

We drove to San Juan Bautista.

We bought half a crate off a truck.

They were huge! And the best you'll ever taste.

Workers in strawberry fields.

Local businesses...

Antique and tourist shops.

We had lunch at an outdoor Mexican restaurant.

Flowering cactus.

We just walked around town.

Old settler's cabin.

Roses in a garden.

The big draw of this town is the old mission.

The mission was established in 1797.

The stables are now part of the museum.

The Plaza Hall, across the green from the mission.

I can't remember which missionary this is.

And it's been a functioning church ever since.

The bell tower was filmed in Hitchcock's "Vertigo."

We didn't go into the museum, because we had Bailey.

San Juan Bautista is a sweet little town.

Mostly historic buildings downtown.

We got a kick out of this sign at a park.

On the way home, Kate grabbed this shot of a vineyard. So many of them!

Plenty of strawberries to eat.

Back at the campground.

Some good views.

The next day, we drove 25 odd miles to Pinnacles National Park.

Because its a national park, dogs aren't allowed on the trails.

Sorry, Bailey.

A nice ranger directed us to a service road we could walk on.

End of the road.

On the way back, Kate took the camera and got some good shots.

Back we go.

Kate has an eye for small beauties.

I wait while she photographs. Only fair.

Leaving the park, we had to stop for this.

On the way home, Kate got a few shots out the window.

Such great old barns.

Our last day had the most beautiful weather.

Plenty of time to kick back and enjoy it.
