We returned to New Orleans, this time meeting our daughter there for her first visit to the area.

Party at our campground site.

Scott and Chali brought five pounds of boiled crawfish.

Like teeny lobsters.

After dinner, a campground walk.

This has got to be the coolest camp setup I've seen!

We roasted hot dogs and marshmallows.

We visited my brother, David.

David took us to Jean Lafitte National Park.

There's a long boardwalk hike through the bayou.

We watched this otter swim in the swamp.

Pygmy owl.

Striped snake.

Cypress "knees" are roots that grow upward.

Bayou canal leads to NOLA skyscraper.

Chameleon.

Basking gator.

And turtle.

We saw at least six gators.

They were just a few feet away.

For dinner, we went to Ignatius Eatery.

It's a fun place on Magazine Street.

We tried some traditional NOLA cuisine.

Me and my little bro.

Tobi takes the wheel, just around the campground.

It's a Slavery Museum.

Kate and I had been before.

Very sombering.

Reading names of slaves and quotes.

So many slaves on this plantation alone.

Some of the quotes are hard to read.

This memorial is just for children who died here.

So many babies and children died.

This seafood market is just outside our campground.

I rode my bike there early one morning.

I got there just as sellers were setting out their wares.

The Cornhusk Hotel is famous.

A survivor's diary written on the walls of his home.

Rescuers wrote on garage doors to indicate bodies inside.

Upstairs was the Mardi Gras Museum.

We went to the Whitney Plantation.
