We traveled to California in a convoy with Kelly and Linda.

Kelly, Linda, and Kate with dogs Bella, Buddy, and Bailey.

A happy caravan at the start of our journey.

Kate was meeting the challenge of Highway 199 quite well.

We walked the dogs to the river for a romp and swim in the morning.

Back at the ranch, Kelly was hooking up her new Retro trailer.

Nested at the end of a long day in the our Jedidiah Smith campsite.

Kate offered some direction.

Ready for a new day.

And off we went.

But it was a challenge. Notice the notched-out redwood.

What a beautiful day.

This was a favorite stop when the kids were little.

But wait a minute... Did Paul have a logging accident?

Another curious sight: a herd of elk in front of a red schoolhouse.

This would have been a fun place to stop with kids.

The sun was setting.

Linda leads the way.

Then Kelly.

Then us.

After traversing the scary mountain pass, we take a moment.

Just a few miles more.

What an incredible view from our site.

Just a few others camped further down.

We were so happy to have made it in one piece!

Finally got to the Howard Creek campsite.
